The Hyper 212 Black has fins on the base, better mounting system (tighter fit), a better fan (quieter too), and the Thermal paste is a bit better (MasterGel Pro with the Black). Max temps have dropped by over 10 degrees running 10 runs of Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool. I know these CPUs run hot, but I'm OCD.Īfter deciding the Hyper 212 Black RGB would be a good cheap cooler (I'm only running at 4.8GHz on all cores for now), I decided to bench my Hyper 212 EVO for temps for a perfect A to B comparison in my controlled environment. But was still operating higher than I wanted. I delidded my i7 last week, and dropped temps by about 10 degrees. I've been eyeing a new cooler for a while, since the EVO is dated, ugly, and starting to show its age when it comes to cooling performance (especially for an OC i7 8700k).
